SKAPHOS – The Descent

SKAPHOS is a French Abyssal Death Metal band, formed in 2018 and initially signed to Transcending Obscurity Records.

Since its inception, the band has crafted a singular universe through three albums - "Bathyscaphe" (2020), "Thooï" (2022), and "Cult of Uzura" (2025) - blending the dark, dissonant atmospheres of Black Metal with the raw power of Death Metal.

With "The Descent" SKAPHOS offers far more than a simple reinterpretation of its early works. The album revisits tracks from "Bathyscaphe" and "Thooï" while reimagining them within a renewed artistic vision. More than a physical descent into the abyss, "The Descent" embodies a true plunge into madness.

Entirely recomposed, reworked, and re-recorded in continuity with the ritualistic and tribal direction initiated on "Cult of Uzura" the tracks gain in intensity, density, and maturity.

The lyrics have also been rewritten, evolving the themes explored and giving rise to new identities for each track, now retitled.

Drawing on years of experience, SKAPHOS refines and asserts its artistic direction, elevated by the work of Nathan Faure (mixing), Thibault Chaumont (mastering), and Paulo Girardi (artwork).

On stage, SKAPHOS unfolds a dark and immersive universe through performances marked by a near-ritualistic intensity. The band has played in more than 20 countries, touring across Europe and Asia alongside legends such as I Am Morbid, Vader, Marduk, Suffocation, Belphegor, Batushka, and Vomitory.

Their abyssal universe extends beyond the stage, with evocative music videos and the short film La Litanie des Flots (2022). They are currently working on a full-length film, Aurores Noires, scheduled for April 10 2026.
